the remnants of the last standing structures.

Without worth. Without purpose;
Dirt under the fingernails of a corpse.
Towering forest tree, guard of nature,

lull under a blanket of white ivory snowfall.
Dark circling clouds, disimprison a flood to
wash the blood of man from the forest floor.

Now, limbs of the great oak ancestors stand motionless,

ice frozen to leaf, roots frozen to soil.
